Space Heaters

Posted on February 09, 2014 in Tips and Tricks

The weather is still Cold and we are always looking to stay warm any way we can. A lot of people use electric space heaters to accomplish this but they don't always follow safe practices when using these. Half of all fatal fires are caused by electric or combustable fuel space heaters, 66,400 homes a year are involved in some sort of space heater fires.

The leading cause of space heater fires in general is heating equipment too close to combustable materiel, such as upolstered furniture, clothing, mattress, or bedding. Electrical circuits can become overloaded due to the high amperage demand on these units and the [shared circuits] such as receptacles and lighting

and appliances. Have a licensed electrical contractor install Home Run circuits with AFCI [Arc Fault Circut Interupter] circuits to minimize any potential fires from faulty or non functioning space heaters. If you see that the space heater is broken or damaged in any way Do Not Use it get a new one. Always keep these appliances clean if you must use them and never use them in confined spaces without access to fresh air. It is very easy to put off repairing or reduing electrical circuits and outlets unfortunatly intill it is too late Dont become a statistic take action to be safe for you and your famliy

“I Need a Generator!”

Posted on September 04, 2013 in Generators

I hear that a lot these days. When we come out, the first thing we do is LISTEN!  Everyone has a story from Sandy or another storm and everyone's needs are different.  Some people want a generator for their refridgerator and emergency lighting, some people need their washing machine and dishwasher working, and others just need their sump pump and heat working. Listening is an important part of our job because we need to evaluate you loads in order to put together a system that works for your needs.

The next question is pricing, "How much is this going to cost me?"  We include everything in our quote from gas piping and permits to the pad the generator sits on.  We are able to accommodate customers who want to build their own pad, do their own gas piping, or buy their own generator and have us install it. Our track record speaks for itself with our many happy customers and referrals.

We became Generac dealers because we feel they offer more options than any other brand. However, we have installed Kohler, General Electric, Briggs, Stratten and Honeywell units. With over 28 years experience in generator installations, we can put together the system that is right for your home.  So if you're looking into backup power for your home, give us a call and we can guide you in the right direction.
